THURSDAY HS ROUNDUP: Patrick Henry volleyball runs record to 11-1 with 3-0 sweep of Cave Spring

Marella Hudson had 14 kills and two aces as Patrick Henry won for the 11th time in 12 volleyball matches this season with a 25-11, 25-17, 25-20 victory Thursday night over visiting Cave Spring.

Reghan Dixon contributed seven kills and two blocks for PH, while Grayce Edwards had 19 assists, four kills and two aces.

Peyton Stepka led Cave Spring (3-6) with nine assists, five digs and an ace, while Blair Emery added 15 digs and an ace.

GOLF

Wildcats earn Region 3C berth

HARRISONBURG — Rockbridge County’s golf team earned a berth in the Region 3C tournament Thursday when the Wildcats locked up second place in the Valley District after the league’s third regular-season qualifier at Heritage Oaks Golf Club.

Rockbridge’s Sofia Vargas and Spotswood’s Andrew Baugher shared medalist honors as each shot 76. Vargas and teammate Andrew McCoy were named to the all-district team.

Regular-season champion Spotswood will join the Wildcats in the regional field.

CROSS COUNTRY

Titans to host Clash

Hidden Valley will host 25 other schools in the Clash with the Titans cross country meet Saturday.

The varsity event begins at 10 a.m. with the girls race.
