Michelle Pfeiffer anchors this modern-day story with a vintage vibe about a New York society dame who escapes her increasingly wretched circumstances by moving to a friend’s apartment in Paris, accompanied by her son and her cat. But as the saying goes, “wherever you go, there you are,” and Pfeiffer’s Frances still needs to be jostled out of her existential funk by some colorful locals.

“French Exit” is rated R and runs one hour, 50 minutes. Showing at The Lyric in Blacksburg from Friday, April 2, to Tuesday, April 6. Rotten Tomatoes gives it 72% “fresh.” Check website for ticket prices, showtimes and other information: www.thelyric.com.
